How can I stop my dogs (3) from barking in the morning at 6am.?
If they are sleeping with my daughter, they are fine.They don't bark and will stay asleep or at least quite until she gets up to let them outside.If they are caged, the slightest noise they start barking,barking, barking.I leave for work at 3am and like clock work 6am they are barking disturbing my husband, continuous, non-stop barking.Help any suggestions
well i have a dog and he always barked, hes about 5 years old now, so still pretty young but what we did was we filled a spray bottle with water and when ever he barked we would spray him a couple of times now he only barks at strangers not at us

How do you calm down a puppy that won't stop barking?
She's out of control! She barks like crazy I could be laying down and she will start barking at me. I try to tell her no but she doesn't listen! She also bites everything people's feet and and anything she can get her paws on. How do i calm her down when she gets like this!
The spray in the face would probably just aggravate her and make her bark more thanks though...
Train them to respond to the command "Enough". That's what I did with my chihuahua.
You should never tell a barking dog "No", because that confuses them. They've learned that No means to stop doing something you don't approve of, and you don't want to teach a dog to stop barking at intruders.
I trained my dog with a water spray bottle. When he started barking incessantly I would spray him in the face (not close up) and say "Enough". He would stop barking. It took about 3 weeks for me to really see the effects. Now he still barks when he hears something unfamiliar, but when I give the command he stops.
You should NEVER pet of praise them when they're barking like that. I know it seems like you're soothing them and getting them to calm down, but you're actually reinforcing their behavior.

Also, as for the nipping at ankles, you need to nip that in the bud! (pun intended, teehee). That is in no way acceptable. You need to firmly and consistently tell him "NO" when he starts nipping. If that doesn't see results, then you could try giving him toys that are acceptable to bite and chew on, and then at the same time offer him things that AREN'T acceptable to chew on. (but nothing overly valuable of course) Then you have two choices, you can coat the forbidden things with Bitter Apple (they sell this at most pet stores) OR you can give him praise and a treat when he chews on a toy and say "NO" with a loud hand clap when he chews on the other items.

Spraying in the face does not aggravate dogs. They're not expecting it and it makes them stop to think about what just happened. I know it seems strange, but try it before you dismiss it.

Help!! My great dane is out of control!!?
My nine month old great dane is going to be the end of me if I cant figure out what to do!
He bites hard enough to draw blood when he's playing. He thinks he's a boxer and uses his paws and scratches you (I've got numerous scars on my arms from it now). He chases our three cats, and hits them with his paws. He chews on our other two dogs and wont quit till they actually angry bite him in the face, at which point he barks louder and doesnt stop. If you tell him no, he barks at you and starts jumping around.
I've tried everything I can think of, spray bottles, giving him a light tap on the nose, just saying 'no' in a firm voice, none of it works. And I cant keep him outside because he digs massive holes.
At nearly 100 pounds this has got to stop! I've raised two other dogs and had no problem with them at all!
Edit- Please do not suggest crate training, as we've done this. He spends half his day in the cage because he cant behave. AND he's in it when we arent home.
I had a female dane, the trick is NEVER to play rough with them. You really should have considered what having a dane is like but since it's a little late you have to figure this out and we'll try to help. Right now he thinks he's the boss. Does he have access to food anytime? If so that needs to stop. Show him he gets food when YOU say so. That will help establish a dominance over him. When he bites I would wrestle him down and squeeze his nose hard enough to get a whimper or bite him back while holding his muzzle. I know it sounds mean or bad but it's a little late for being nice and danes are different than regular size dogs. The goal ISN'T to hurt him, but to let him know he hurt you and you didn't like it. That's how they act in the wild. They can be VERY rebellious. A vet can also recommend him taking a benedryl to calm him down until he starts to act calm on his own. PLEASE talk to your vet first. Also check google for answers on aggresive large dogs. There are books etc. That can help. For me I didn't have to do things like that much because my husband always established dominance over her and she was the sweetest baby ever.

Do anti-bark dog collars actually work?
My neighbours have complained to the landlord about my dog's barking. She really goes over the top when someone enters the apartment, or if she hears a noise outside, she howls like a wolf then barks her head off. My landlord at the moment is also the same landlord of the property I am moving to in a few weeks. He said if I don't get the barking under control, I will have to re-home my dog or he will evict me. I am not willing to lose my dog. I have found an Anti-bark collar on the internet, it lets out a high pitched sound when the dog barks, and its meant to deter the dog from barking. I am wondering if these actually work? Thanks

i used a citronella no-bark collar and it worked within a week ... they work so well that pet stores where i live actually rent them because they are so effective no one needs them after the dog is trained ... i moved to an apartment building where the mail came through the front door which my dog was not used to ... and this building was packed with dogs so the first mail drop the barking started ... just most dogs would shut up, mine did not ... i took a month of mornings off work to sit in the stairwell and i would go and reprimand her immediately when she barked at the mail and leave again ... well i could not take time off work indefinitely (try telling your boss you want time off cuz your dog barks, did not go over well at my workplace) so i got one of those citronella collars ... the first day i got home from work the entire apartment reeked of citronella and she had emptied the cartridge ... the next day less ... the third day just her chin smelled like citronella and the fourth day i smelled nothing when i came home ... the following day i again waited in the stairwell for the mail woman and she confirmed she could not hear my dog bark anymore ... it was so worth it and seven years later she still will not bark in the apartment ... i would strongly suggest the citronella one ...
