show leads thoughts ideas?
for my breed they usually use snap leads with snake chains.
but i was given a nylon martingale leash combo for my future show dog and i want to know if that would be of for my future show dog a sight hound.
i was wondering if that lead would be ok in the future for the show ring?
i am taking the puppy to classes and i have never seen these dogs pull or really act up in the ring so i dont see it giving them a rash. or should i buy a snap lead and snake chain when the dog is old enough to show and just use the nylon martingale until then for training?
You can use whatever suits your dog best. Puppies often perform better in nylon or soft material collars, either slip or martingale. As your training progresses and you puppy grow and mature you may find that you get a better performance in a different type of collar/lead combination. I start my babies in soft fabric slip collars and some will stay in them all of their show careers some (usually the boys) will listen better in a snake chain and fine lead. I like to use leads made from either colored parachute cord decorated with little gold beads, or fine rolled leather. It's just personal preference. Ask your puppy's breeder what they use or recommend.
