Information on Buddy Belt Accent
GIRLS!!!!! IS THIS IS A TURNOFF TO YALL?
Am I too redneck / country to yall?
I'm from Texas, but I'm up here in Illinois for school and I don't seem to fit in. I always wear cowboy boots, Wranglers or Levi's, a button down shirt tucked in, belt buckle, a ball cap, I dip Skoal sometimes, I drive a lifted Chevy Silverado, and I got a pretty thick Texas / Southernish accent. I also really only listen to country music and I like NASCAR. Yall think I am. I feel way more comfortable goin out fishing or shooting with my buddies. Here is a bigger copy of my display pic and another of me and one of my truck. They were taken when I went back home to Texas recently. Yall think I'm really too redneck or country, and would it be a turnoff if you dated a guy like me or similar to me?

Brett,
After nearly 18 years in the Army and having been stationed all over the country and out of the country I've had to "fit in" in a lot of different places with a lot of different types of people. West Coast, East Coast, North, South, Kansas, Oklahoma and N. Texas, Germany and Korea. Then in college I went away to Richmond, Virginia (I'm from Buffalo, NY) and I had a roommate from W.Virginia who played Bluegrass.
If I was your dad then this is the advice I'd give you ~
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do"
I never changed who I was as a person and I kept my values and the things I liked to do I still did them BUT I learned to do different things to. I learned German and tried to speak Korean and I listened to Country & Western and you know what? It ain't so bad and I still listen to it today.
Brett, all I'm saying is that you will always be "Brett" no matter what kinda belt, boot or hat you wear or don't wear but while you're in Illinois try to explore some of what's going on around you as long as it's not negative. Eat something you don't usually eat, wear something you don't usually wear, try out the life style where you are. Hell, practice the Northern accent, why not? I wouldn't want my son to change who he is but I would want him to experience the life around him.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the way you are but I want you to open up more.
